Hey DC, What's Shakin'?

I wasn't in the earthquake, I was in Ohio. I am sort of sad I missed it, but not really at all when I see pictures of what the commute home looked like. I will also miss hurricane Irene this weekend. Two natural disasters in one week sounds cool, but I'm also glad I don't have to envoke the powers of my own disaster preparedness just yet. Especially since they don't really exist  - aside from jars of peanut butter. Instead, I'm going to hold firmly to my belief that no combination of earthquake/hurricane could be quite as fun as snowpocalypse.

Instead, I'm in Ohio for two weeks for work, which is really productive and really awesome. And even though there aren't tremors in my bones from an earthquake, there are tremors in my heart (the good kind) for this guy.

This week we attended a formal event at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which meant digging through the closet and throwing on my prom dress from 2002. Adam rented a same-day tux, then decided to be completely ridiculous and buy me a corsage.

And last weekend we went to my grandparent's cottage on Lake Michigan. My happiest place on earth with the person that makes me the happiest girl on earth is a great combination. I think the only person who could possibly be more pleased about this than me is my mother. You may have seen the picture she posted on Facebook of me and Adam doing yoga on the beach.

This is Adam sucking up to Grandma.

Is this post too sappy? Please tell me if this post totally makes you want to gag. I apologize in advance if that is the case.

I obviously don't know Adam, but what I've seen of you two together (on facebook/your blog) I think you are perfect for each other, you look so happy. Good luck with everything and I'm hoping for the best for you two!

Normally "love" posts do make me throw up in my mouth, but I loved this one. Very sweet! And I'm very happy for you. And jealous that you got to hang out at Lake Michigan. Mallory took me there once, but that was when she was dating that guy (we'll call him "loser") and then they broke up after I left Ohio! Yeah for getting rid of the loser! Ha! Wow, I just went off on a big tangent.

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I am so flattered to hear that my mushy-ness is somewhat barf-proof.

And a special shout out to Sarah for breaking Mallory and "Loser" up. We discussed it last night at the Meteer family dinner. I didn't realize everyone was holding out for you to get the job done.

Oh man, when I saw the first picture I thought that Adam and you were showing off a RING and not a corsage!! I was going to get so mad at you for finding out about your engagement through the blog! But alas... it was just a flower arrangement... phew!
